More on the Chain Silencer

Introducing the Chain Silencer. Made of lightweight, high-grade neoprene and a distinctive design, it’s twenty-two-inch height blankets the central pole of your disc golf basket to adequately muffle the sound of your chains without compromising the integrity of your basket. Designed to be removable, this product won’t stop you from enjoying the bang of the chains.

Through customer feedback, we have found that there are many situations where the chains need to be muffled. In places like apartments, quiet neighborhoods, hotel rooms, while the baby is sleeping, and many more.

The Chain Silencer has been making its way through the US to pro shops and customers. Whether it be through tournament sales, trophies or individual purchases made on our website, people have responded positively to its efficacy. It has become a temporary solution to noise pollution.

What’s the Difference?

Here at Good Dog Disc Golf, we realized that the original Chain Silencer wasn’t as snug on the center pole of some practice baskets. Our first change was to narrow the width of the original Chain Silencer, accommodating more of those narrow, center poles.

Thus, the MOD II was born!

As we know, most center poles are under 2” in diameter. The new and improved MOD II fits center poles from 1.5” to 2.0” in diameter comfortably. But that’s not all!

A New Addition

In the beginning, we came across a few more issues with the Chain Silencer not fitting inside every chain ring on the market.

With that in mind, we designed the “Ring Guard”. This 1 mm thick extension of neoprene was added to the bottom of the MOD II to fit inside the chain ring, making the silencer more effective and versatile.

But That’s Not All

Some smaller and shorter baskets did not allow for the height of the original Chain Silencer. The MOD II was designed to combat this problem, allowing the customer to shorten the length by cutting above the double stitch line at the upper end of the MOD II (as shown to the left). These stitches are designed to keep the Velcro attached securely to the neoprene after shortening.
